Bird Watching
Bird watching is fun and relaxing or not! We have a vast array of birds right here! Common Loons can be seen right from shore. So can the Hooded Merganser, Osprey and Bald Eagle. A few birds to be found around our pond are Red-Winged Black Bird, Black-capped Chickadee, Cardinal, House Sparrow, Chimney Swift, Ruby Throated Hummingbird, Eastern Kingbird (usually looking for something to eat in the pond) along with the Great Blue Heron and Green Heron. The most fun to watch from the time they start building their mud nest till what I call "test flight days" are the Cliff Swallows who make there nest along a ridge around the Lodge. What a mess, I think they use my vehicle for target practice, but what fun to have around!
These are just a few. We have a list of all the birds that can be found in Pittsburg just for the asking!
Be sure to visit the New Hampshire Audubon Society for even more information.
